This is a visual identity system designed for a project investigated by University of Alberta professors Sara Dorow and Geoffrey Rockwell. The Work Life Canada project revolves around exploring the relationship between work and life of different people through Martin Weinhold's photographic lens. The project draws on Indigenous storytelling traditions, and focuses on taking an intersectional and inclusive approach.
The chosen colours are inspired by the Indigenous Medicine Wheel, using the yellow to complement the red used in the Workspace Canada visual identity, completing the cycle of body, mind, emotion and spirit. Another key value inspiring this visual identity is geometry, in looking at the duality and the act of preservation through storytelling, and in the history of geometry in helping us make meaning of our lives in many rooted Indigenous practices across Turtle Island and the rest of the world.
